C4S - Items of interest

"It is not enough to be compassionate. You must act. There are two aspects to action. One is to overcome the distortions and afflictions of your own mind, that is, in terms of calming and eventually dispelling anger. This is action out of compassion. The other is more social, more public. When something needs to be done in the world to rectify the wrongs, if one is really concerned with benefitting others, one needs to be engaged, involved." -Dalai Lama,

Amongst the membership of C4S are people who are those who 'walk the walk' but can also 'talk the talk' and they are actively involved in innovative and ground-breaking initiatives tackling the barriers to sustainable Social Capital.

The scope of this work may at first seem wider than the Social Capital agenda but C4S fundamentally believe that all of this work, if done by people committed to people, has a direct affect on positive change for all. The wealth of projects we currently have members involved in cover:

  • Housing
  • Conservation
  • Restorative Justice
  • Inter-faith work
  • Inter-Generational activities
  • Local Heritage
  • Tackling crime
  • Youth diversionary programmes
  • Ethical working
  • Learning for all
  • and many, many more

Traffic congestion and pollution are a rising problem

Through this page we will provide links to reports and other information that may be helpful to you and highlight the positive work being done by people like the members of C4S (maybe they are members of C4S! - we won't say unless they want us too).
